Purpose: To check the form, fit, and size of external splines.

Design: A ring with internal spline teeth that match the specifications of the mating external spline (e.g., number of teeth, pitch, pressure angle, major/minor diameters, etc.).

Material: Typically made of hardened steel or carbide to maintain accuracy over time.

Types:

• Go Gauge: Should fit smoothly over the spline – confirms that the part meets minimum material conditions.

• No-Go Gauge: Should not fit – ensures the spline does not exceed maximum material conditions.

Used in quality control during or after machining of splined shafts.

Helps prevent fitment issues in assemblies that rely on precise spline engagement.
